Nubuck is a velvet-like textured leather, created by lightly brushing the surface of full-grain leather. The base of our Nubuck is also a Taurillon leather, sourced from the tannery Tannery Rémy Carriat in France.
The term “Nubuck” should not be confused with suede leather. Nubuck refers specifically to full-grain leather that has been brushed on the exterior side. Suede, on the other hand, is made from the underside of the leather, which is used as the exterior.
Nubuck has a suede-like touch, but it is actually the result of brushing the upper surface of full-grain leather to achieve a velvety finish. It is often used for high-end leather goods.
This Nubuck from Tannery Rémy Carriat is water-resistant and does not transfer color onto light-colored clothing. Although color transfer is not an issue, the backside of the bag is made of full-grain Taurillon leather instead of Nubuck to reduce friction.
